Bahle Farms

Writer: Robert Bruce AdamsRobert Bruce Adams

BAHLE FARMS GOLF COURSE is blessed with magnificent topography joined by first-class bentgrass greens. The course is carved out of Leelanau County’s hilly terrain and routed through mature cherry orchards offering stunning views of the countryside and of Suttons Bay. What a beautiful course. Thumbs-up to the Bahle family who transformed their cherry orchards to a superb golf course.

It had been a few years since I ventured up M-22 from Traverse City to play the course. My sons and I took the opportunity to play it mid-week early in the day during a recent vacation. We had played it several times with other groups, but never had the three of us played it together. We marveled at the views and recalled aspects of the course’s impressive character. I was able to register a birdie on the 17th hole after three impressive shots - just enough to bring me back.

The course is thirteen miles north of Traverse City three miles west of M-22. Go west on Shady Lane and head north up 633 and go west on Otto Road one mile to the entrance. 9505 E. Otto Rd. Suttons Bay 49682. www.traversecitygolf.com
